Today’s story starts as every other great story has ever started:
At the Lebanese-run Chinese restaurant in Nigeria, the American’s sat down for lunch… But the day’s activities had been set in motion long before that...
The guys had a meeting with some of Jason and Emilee’s best Nigerian friends in the morning… Their names are Daniel and Victor and they are very gifted ‘computer guys’… They do everything from setting up networks, to troubleshooting printer problems, to creating websites… They are some of the best web designers in Nigeria… They were looking forward to meeting with the guys (who are very gifted and intelligent businessmen in the States)… They discussed strategies and plans and goals and the Nigerian Factor and so on… I just took pictures and ate cookies… My biggest contribution to the conversation was trying to not rattle the cookie wrappers…
After we met with Daniel and Victor we loaded up to lunch (the Lebanese-run Chinese restaurant)… It was delicious, and the hot spicy stuff was really, really, really spicy…
After lunch we went to a few artisan markets… We all bought some things… So if you think you might be getting some sort of Nigerian souvenir, well, you just might be!
We went to a place called Gidan Bege, which is a ministry that helps widowed women… They are taught how to sew beautiful things, and those articles are then sold so that they can have a means of income… Here is a picture of their shop (and a picture of a boy I saw running around in the alley where the shop is located)…
From there we went to the local market… This is where Emilee and Corrie go to get food for the groups and for themselves… Everything is fresh, but the conditions in the market are, um, primitive… We are all strongly considering a vegetarian diet from now on…

Something that we’ve learned the last few nights is that the power lasts until about 10:00PM here… Last night I just barely made the deadline, and I’ll be cutting it close tonight… So any inspirational insight or stories you were hoping to hear will probably have to wait until tomorrow…
But tomorrow should be amazing… Tomorrow will be a new experience altogether for the Block Boys from Cincinnati…

So what did you eat at the Lebanese-run Chinese restaurant? Sounds interesting! The picture of that boy is precious. And i love that ministry for the widowed women...
Thanks for all the updates and pictures...I know from Mexico this is no small task. We love reading it and seeing what you are doing there. Love you!
Hi Chad, it's Jessie. Happy belated birthday! Jen was a trooper, sacrificed and ate El Picante and Cinnabon cookies in your honor. It was hard, but she managed for you. :) But definitely take a rain check, we'll do it again when you can join your birthday party! Ellery was just adorable of course, Aunt Jessie couldn't say no to a single "UP"! She was really excited to see you in the picture book we looked through, I hope that makes you smile and not cry. Too much anyway. :) It's good to read your writings again, you have such a gift and brought me to tears with the swimming story. I'm so glad the Lord brought you some amazing love on a day when I know you were missing your girls. Keep up the good work, I am praying that the Lord gives you much refreshment and clarity during your time there. Love, Jessie
