Day 2 (up until dinner)

Today started out great! We got a full night of sleep (although I did wake to the bed shaking a little, after which Jen informed me that we were in the presence of a huge bug)... Upon completing my duty to remove the bug from our presence (I had to use Jen's sandal, don't tell her), we walked over and had some breakfast... After breakfast and a quick meeting with Beth (of Beth and Todd Guckenberger - head honchos), we got ourselves situated and did some reading... The devotional reading this summer is called "Offer" (from Romans 12)... Here's a picture of Jen in the Palapa (probably telling the Lord that she wishes I would take less pictures!!)


This is a picture of the basketball court (big staff game tonight at 6:30) and the soccer field...









We made a quick trip out to Wal-Mart (in spanish it's spelled "Wal-Mart")... This is just like any other Super Wal-Mart, except everything is in spanish and there is immense and picturesque beauty in the parking lot!






And after our Wal-Mart run we came back and helped organize a swimming party for the kids in one of the new orphanages... These kids are all young, so most of them can't really swim without the aid of a flotation device (en espanol "floaties")... Jen was a great lifeguard since she couldn't swim because her big toenail hasn't completely healed yet...

We are having a great time, and we're looking forward to the rest of our time here... Tonight is Dinner, Worship, Debriefing from the day...
